The dilemma… Water and air, the two essential fluids on which all life depends, have become global garbage cans. Jacques Cousteau (1910-1997) When I discovered the Site DrNatura, it took me several weeks before I finally made my mind up and ordered Colonix, for all kinds of reasons: fear of being taken for my money by an unscrupulous business (those things are known to happen…), concern over the price since I did not have an income and could hardly pay my bills let alone splurge on something I didn’t know, fear that it might not work for me and that I’d be disappointed, etc. Most of all, though, I was put off by the idea of having to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Dumb? Not really if you know my reasons…
As a kid, I learned in school that water was colorless, odorless and tasteless. I also experienced it myself, having grown in a charming and wealthy town near Paris, supplied with an artesian well. The town routinely published the results of water analysis and everyone was satisfied that it was excellent. Not only did it contain H2O but it was also very rich in necessary minerals, gleaned in its travels through layers upon layers of rock, dirt, gravel and sand. It was as close to what Mother Nature had intended it to be and definitely a source of life. I probably could count the few times my mother bought fruit juice: water was close to free and she saw no point in wasting money on non-essentials. My grandmother, on the other hand, lived in the heart of Paris and in the rare occasions when we stayed overnight, our skin would break out from using its incredibly harsh water, white from calcium deposit. It was drinkable but, at best, suspicious to us: soap didn’t bubble, shampoo left white residues and all her pots and pans were coated by half an inch of hard chalk. Life happened and I moved to the US where I came face-to-face with smelly tap water, first in the San Francisco Bay, then in Boston and finally, in central Ohio. In all three, results of water analysis were routinely published as well and, although they revealed the presence of chlorine, fluoride and other chemicals, they were declared “safe”. The water stank and tasted horrible but it was good for us. Call me naïve but I always believed (until recently, that is…) that democracy was the government of the people, by the people and for the people. As such, government was watching over for my interests. It was simply inconceivable that government would want anything but the best for its constituents. As I said, naïve. Even though I did not care for its taste, reassured about its safety, I drank tap water for many years, although less and less at its taste was becoming worse and worse. Eventually, the only liquids I would ingest would be the soups I made and coffee which has the undeniable advantage of hiding bad tap water, not realizing that, in so doing, I was dehydrating a little more every day, which in all probability accounts for a few of the ailments I ended up suffering from. DrNatura is very clear that, in order for the Colonix program to work, one must drink 8 glasses of water, preferably pure or distilled. Pure, water is commonly sold on the market but, being my mother’s daughter (and flat broke), I couldn’t resolve to spend money on bottles when I was already paying for tap water. Distilled water… well, I had learned as a child that distilled water lacks minerals and that, as it flushed through the body, it depletes the body of same, leaving it deficient in most needed life elements. Boy Oh boy, what was I to do? Have water rich in minerals and loaded with chemicals, spend an inordinate amount of money in bottled water the origin of which I could not be sure of or purchase distilled water, knowing that it may be unhealthy? Eventually, an unexpected windfall allowed me to invest into a water purification system through reverse osmosis… which I now realize may not be the answer either. Well, I finally came to a decision: I would order the Colonix program (big investment for me at the time) and use tap water with lemon juice. That way, I would be able to drink the required 8 glasses (it really isn’t optional, unlike a stop sign or the speed limit… Just kidding!) and still not send myself right into the poor house. Here folks is the dilemma our world has come to in almost aspect of our life: air, water and food, the three vital sources for our planet and its habitants, have become increasingly dangerous. Mother Nature had meant them for our survival. Man meant them for his financial gain, regardless of the consequences to the rest of humanity. They are loaded with chemicals and now we have limited choices about what to do about it. Air purifiers do a fantastic job of removing organic born particles in our homes and offices but with the aide of ozone concentrations dangerous to humans, according to sites such as www.miamiferret.org or www.healthandenergy.com. Water purifiers either do not remove chemicals, although they may destroy some bacteria, or they remove all of them, leaving us with “dead” water and no one likes the idea of ingesting anything “dead”. What to choose? Bottled water may help but no one really knows what they contain for sure and they do end up being very costly. Reverse osmosis filter systems cost a lot and, even though NASA uses them on it space shuttles, it is for a short amount of time, which limits the exposure to mineral depletion. I don’t have the answers. I wish I did but I don’t. And since it is a damn-if-you-do or damn-if-you-don’t situation, we need to figure out individually what our priorities are. What do we need to do the most, right now? For me, a body cleansing was the most important, even if it meant that I would be ingesting large amounts of chlorine and fluoride for a while. In the big scheme of things, getting rid of my parasites, restoring my intestinal function and boosting my blood circulation were the emergency. Detoxifying my body from water chemicals would be the next step. Of course, doing both at once would have been ideal but not everyone can afford it. Hence the need to prioritize. In all honesty, if unable to do both, I believe that a colon cleansing should be the first step for everyone. Why? Because the results are immediate and visible. Seeing results gives us the incentive to seek further and take the following steps. But I want to stress that, once we decide to set on a health recovery course, it is a journey that we must be ready to tackle, knowing that it will be a long one. Not unpleasant by any means. It simply becomes a life long journey. There is little point in detoxifying and returning to our old ways. Besides, our body will not allow it: it tends to argue when we try to poison it after having put it through detox. I know: lately, mine has been giving me an increasingly harder time with the few bad habits I still harbor… In many developed countries, taking vitamins and minerals is as common as brushing our teeth. It is an undeniable fact that our food lacks necessary nutrients and replacing them chemically is almost the norm. As a matter of fact, pregnant women are routinely prescribed vitamins and supplements which are paid for by insurance (interesting that they are not covered for the rest of the population, children included…) So, the consensus even within the medical community is that supplements are required nowadays. Even though I do eat mostly organic food, I am no different from anyone else: I have certain deficiencies, which explain why candida, for example, tends to recur and why I follow a month of the Colonix program every four or five months: although it is insidious, candida does tend to recur. Going back on Colonix allows me to keep at bay or, at the very least, curtail its proliferation and my colonization. I remember much too well when I felt lousy all the time and could not function. It will not happen again so long as I can help it. So, what to do about the water? Once thing is certain for me: tap water has become the most dangerous alternative. Think about this: our skin is our largest organ. It serves both a respiratory function (it breathes, which is why so many severely burnt victims on a large portion of their body die of asphyxiation) and a hydration function: moisture from the air penetrates our body. Hence the outrageously expensive cosmetic creams sold to women to “reverse” the effects of aging. Unfortunately, the small area on which those creams are applied renders them ineffective and the chemical components toxic. Ever wondered why French women, who do not wear as much cosmetics as women in other cultures still manage to have a better looking skin? Or why African and Asian men and women keep a youthful skin for so long that it is impossible to tell their age? So, what makes our skin look so old so fast? Obviously, certain habits such as smoking do… but many French women do smoke and yet, they do not look as old as their American counterpart. Sunbathing is also a culprit but, again, French women sunbath as much as their American counterparts and in more parts of their bodies and keep an air of youth about them. So, what gives? Think about it: our tap water stinks of chlorine and, oftentimes, is far from colorless. Based on different articles I read, American tap water is, by far, the most chemically polluted one in the entire world. Few countries use fluoride in such a quantity as we do here, allegedly to strengthen bones and teeth in children (when Europe has already rung the alarm bell on the risks it poses of bone cancer in boys). Few countries use as much chloride to counterbalance the effects of organic pollution of their water systems (remember the massive poisoning in the Michigan population several years ago from bacteria contaminated tap water). We take more hot showers than anywhere else in the world. The water we use is our tap water. In hot water, our pores open (same process when we sweat: our pores open to eliminate toxins flushed with the water of our body, hence our need to drink and replenish the fluid). As they do, our skin absorbs and retains the water from our shower, along with whatever it contains. When we are healthy and have a good immune system, the few bacteria not killed by the chlorine are destroyed. The chemicals, however, enter our body where they spread through our lymphatic and circulatory systems. Those chemicals attach themselves to our tissues and organs, where they cause serious damages by not only interfering with the function of our cells but, in some cases, by transforming the cell itself and preventing it from duplicating. When I discovered the dangers of our tap water, not only did I invest into a purifying system I hardly could afford but I also decided to follow a complete Toxinout program of detoxification. There was little point in keeping the chemicals in my body after such an investment. And as I was reading about the ingredients in Toxinout, I realized that most minerals missing from my tap water through the reverse osmosis process could be replenished by the DetoxiGreen herbal powder along with most vitamins missing from my alimentation and, unlike most commercial brand of supplements, under a form readily absorbable by my digestive system. Further, it is safe for long term use. Do a little experiment: take one of your vitamin caplets and bake it for 10 minutes at 350. Normally, it should melt and decompose under the heat, which is an indication that the support used is neither shellac nor resin (used in construction varnish). If it does not melt, what makes you think that it can be dissolved by your digestive system? What proof do you have that you actually benefit from your daily vitamins and supplements? So, our water is one of the most necessary and yet most dangerous elements for our survival. Again, whatever damage it has caused is not of our doing: for decades, our governments kept us in the dark as to the impact our habits had, collectively, on our survival and petrochemical corporations deliberately hid (and still try to do) the effects on the environment of their operations. Once again, we have been set up. Well, we don’t need to remain ignorant. And, at the very least, we can take action to restore our individual health. One thing is certain: when so many sites on the internet report on the dangers of our tap water, the least we can do is look into it. Bottled, ionized, distilled or purified through reverse osmosis, with their drawbacks, still bring the assurance that they are the least of two evils. Keep in mind that the idea is not to become immortal (we’re not there yet) but to restore our health to a degree where we can function to the best of our ability, without pain, aches, spaciness and all around misery. Even if we make mistakes during our research, if we keep at it, we’re bound to help our condition.
